Second Life's Linden Dollars Spiking on eBay

With over 5.6 million people currently registered on Second Life, the online 3-D world created by Linden Labs, the games popularity has skyrocketed this year. Within Second Life, people use the "local" virtual currency called Linden dollars, which can be converted to US dollars at several thriving online Linden Dollar exchanges.

The sale of Linden dollars on eBay have also boomed recently. After 152 Linden dollar items successfully closed during the first week of April, an average of 670 have sold over the last two weeks, a 340 percent increase, according to eBay Marketplace Research. And the cost of Linden dollars on eBay has also gone up: the average listing is going for $87 over the last seven days, up from $73 over the previous week.
